We hear this all the time in many different phrases. One in particular comes to mind that gave me the sense of not being alone as a child is, “Have no fear ‘__’ is here”. We have heard them since being young that good guys save the day. They know that someone is in trouble and immediately come to their rescue. Dropping everything they are doing to save the person from the little situations to the big ones. This undoubtedly ensures that no one feels alone. I always thought as a kid that this would actually happen. I think for many little girls that the man in their life is the hero in their little eyes, her ‘Prince Charming’. You don’t feel alone because they always come to your rescue. Mommy is the sweet nurturer and Daddy is the strong protector. This theme is so common that it has made and still makes money. From wall decor to songs. I cant remember a time that there wasn’t a top song with the “I’ll be there for you” theme. Here is a list to just name a few!
- The Pretenders – I’ll stand by you.
- Ben E. King – Stand by me.
- Jackson 5 – I’ll be there.
- Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell – Ain’t no mountain high enough.
- The Rembrandts – I’ll be there for you.
- Rachel Platten – Stand by you.
- Bill Withers – Lean on me.
- Celine Dion – Because you loved me.
So, then here is the question, “Are ‘they’ actually there for you? Can you go to that person and lean on them? Is there really no mountain high enough or no valley low enough to keep that person from getting to you? When you aren’t strong will that person be your friend and help you carry on? Will they be there at a moments notice for any struggle you may be going through? Do they come when you call and drop everything to be there for you? I am here to tell you that whatever your answer has been or is now, there is ONE constant that you can always rely on for all of those things. You are nor ever will be alone!
I know, you are probably wondering how I can be so sure because I don’t know you or your situation. You are right. I do not know you or your situation. (Side note: I would love to hear your story. Zero judgement. A safe place to be “heard”.) The reason I am certain you are not alone nor ever will be is because I know Jesus Christ is with us always. Every single one us! No matter where we are, what we are doing, or who we are with. He loves us unconditionally and will never leave us. He will find us wherever we are just as a shepherd looks after his ENTIRE flock and finds the one who is lost. He will always be there for you when you call. He knows when you are in trouble. You can lean on Him. He is that rock that will never break. No matter how rough the tides are He will never budge. He is also the one that can calm the tides. You are NEVER alone. He loves YOU. He holds you in the palm of His hands. He will never let you go. THIS is what “I’ll be there for you’ truly means. There is no one else on this earth that is or could be as reliable as He is. Have no fear Jesus Christ is here!
You may be thinking, “That’s all fine and good but I need something tangible. I need someone here on earth that I can rely on.” I understand. After all, we are human. We thrive and crave human contact. You are still NEVER alone. There is a church practically on every single corner. Walk in and seek help. There are many online groups through all the social media sites. These groups were created to help those who need someone to talk. Literally, there are hundreds of people praying for you right at this moment! You are never alone! Whether you believe in Him or not He is there sitting right next to you. Right now His arm is around you. He is telling you that everything will be okay. He is asking you to lean on Him and give Him your troubles. He wants you to lay them out and let them all go. Let Him take the burden. He wants to lighten your baggage and ease your journey here on earth. You are never alone!
Footprints In The Sand
Author: Margaret Fishback Powers
“One night I dreamed a dream.
As I was walking along the beach with my Lord.
Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand,
One belonging to me and one to my Lord.
After the last scene of my life flashed before me,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that at many times along the path of my life,
especially at the very lowest and saddest times,
there was only one set of footprints.
This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it.
“Lord, you said once I decided to follow you,
You’d walk with me all the way.
But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life,
there was only one set of footprints.
I don’t understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me.”
He whispered, “My precious child, I love you and will never leave you
Never, ever, during your trials and testings.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you.”
